Many kinds of fish, shells and animal bones as well as Comb-pattern Pottery, bones, and earthenware have been discovered at Dongsam-dong Shell Midden. Recently, Busan Museum research found not only foxtail millet - millet which was a common grain in Korean peninsula - but also Jomon pottery obsidian flakes that shows the vestige of culture exchange during the Neolithic period between Korea and Japan.
Therefore it is a very important relic to enable us to prove the character and essence of the Korea culture during the Neolithic period.
The Busan Museum opened the typical cultural inheritances of the Neolithic period, Dongsam-dong Shell Midden sites and remains to public and opened Dongsam Shell-heap Exhibition on April 24, 2002 in a view to using it as a historic site after the Memorial Hall for Provisional Capital and Bokcheon Museum were open.
Though this is a small Exhibition Hall, we will continue to put our efforts to discover History and Culture of the Neolithic period through Dongsam-dong Shell Midden Exhibition Hall.
